Materials:

Glue
·
Sharpie

Black Paint

White Plates (Paper)

Foam Brushes

Scissors

Plastic Cups

Letters cut out in Black Paper
·
Orange Bulletin Board Paper
·
Googley Eyes
·
Stapler
Note: Best if done in small groups. Must demo each step and provide
a teacher example.
First:
Take the paper plate and cut it in half
Second:
Cut out four small triangles in the middle of the plate. Save
the small triangles they will be used for the ears and feet.
Third:
Have the students paint four triangle pieces, the two wings,
and one whole plate. Write names on the back.
Fourth:
After they dry glue the bats together. If they are not
holding with the glue help the students staple them together. They also can
glue the googley eyes on.
Fifth (for the teacher):
Cover the bulletin board in orange paper.
Sixth (for the teacher):
Cut out black letters that say “WE ARE BATTY ABOUT MATH”
then staple it to the bulletin board.
Seventh (for the teacher):
Staple the bats to the board.
Eighth:
Do grade appropriate math and hang it up on the board.
