Rainbow Loom Bracelets Using a Fork

Overview
There's a new trend going around with young kids making rubber band bracelets. These bracelets are also known as rainbow looms. Parents can purchase a kit for their child which can be quite expensive if they are not looking to spend that kind of money. No need to worry! I have found an inexpensive way to keep you're children busy and up to date with the latest trend without spending big bucks. The trick is to use a spoon. Yes, a fork! you can buy the color rubber bands at your local dollar story and retail store for less than $2.

Materials:
  • Colored loom bands pack (Pack should include colored rubber bands and S-Clips)
  • Plastic fork

**I purchased my back from my local pharmacy which only cost me $1.49

Step One:
Depending on the type of person you are, you can either separate and organize your colored bands or you can leave them in a pile and choose the colors as you make your bracelet.

Step Two:
Remove the two inner prongs of the plastic fork

Step Three:
Make a figure eight shape with your rubber band and place each side around the prongs of the fork.

Step Four:
Place another rubber band, normally, around the outer prongs of the fork. From here on out, you will no longer need to make a figure eight shape with your rubber band.

Bottom, first rubber band is the eight shape,
top rubber band is the normal rubber band

Step Five:
To finish your bracelet you will continue this pattern of placing the rubber bands normally around the prongs and lifting the bottom rubber band over the prong and place it on top of the "top" rubber band(shown in picture 1). As your bracelet begins to get longer, it is easier to hold the bottom of the bracelet (shown in picture 2 and 3).

and place it on top of the "top rubber band."

Step Six:
I use about 25 rubber bands to complete my bracelet. Once your bracelet is the length you want it, you can end it. Use the S-clip and attach each end of the bracelet to each side of the S-clip.

The S-Clip is connecting both ends of the bracelet.

  1. Line the inside of the Alice band with decorative ribbing or velvet. Remember to burn the edges lightly and sew using small, neat stitches. Make sure that the ribbing or velvet that you use is only 10mm wide. corrugated plastic containers
