Bird Feeders

Overview:

This craft was done with children ranging from ages 4 to 7 years old. This was done in a classroom with children with down syndrome. The teacher incorporated this craft with a lesson about birds and nature. The students got the opportunity to to hang their bird feeders and watch the birds eat.

Materials:
  • Bagels
  • peanut butter
  • Bird food
  • Yarn
  • Plastic spoon or fork.

Prep:
If you do not feel comfortable with your children using a plastic knife then use a spoon. Teacher or parent must cut the bagel in half for their students.Lastly, make sure that students do not have any peanut allergies when doing this craft.

Step One:
Have students spread the peanut butter all over the bagel

Step Two:
Cover the bagel/ peanut butter with the bird seeds

Step Three:
Pull the yarn threw the center opening of the bagel, make a big enough loop then knot it. This is you're able to hang your bird feeder.
