Finger Painting Thanksgiving Turkeys

Overview:

This craft was done with children ranging from ages 4 to 7 years old. It will work for children in any grade. It is fun, easy, and gets the students in the spirit for Thanksgiving.

Materials:
  • Paper plates
  • Washable paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Googley eyes

Prep:
Make sure all surfaces are covered and have the paints accessible for the children. For this project I wanted my students to do it on a colored background so I chose yellow. I could not find yellow paper plates so I decided to purchase yellow spray paint and paint them yellow.

Step One:
Students cut the edges around the plate to make it easier for them to color.

Step Two:
Teachers should paint the student's hand to make this process as less messy as possible. After student's hand is painted, place there hand on the plate.

Step Three:
Have them decorate the edges of the plate that they had cut.

Step Four:
After students finish painting, have them add the final details to their turkeys. Have the students draw on the turkey's legs and glue on the turkeys eye.
